first christmas

we celebrated our first married christmas!
a full weekend indeed.

I came down with the flu, and thomas stayed up all night taking my temperature, giving me medicine, and running to the 24-hour walgreens for whatever provisions we needed.
turns out he's a great mom, in a pinch.

my grandmother and cousins and I had our annual tamale-making day!
see past tamale-making days here and here.
we got a bit crazy this year and made fourteen dozen of those lil guys.
such a fun tradition!

thomas and I went with his family to see the lights at the zoo in south carolina, all chilly and christmasy with the animals mostly sleeping. we did spot two lions still awake.

on christmas day, we made gingerbread houses with my family and fireworks with his family.  and of course opened presents and ate tons of food. they made steak and tacos.
it's so lucky for us to get two big parties per holiday

I absolutely love that picture of y'all. :) It makes me very ridiculously happy! And I love the happiness of this post, all except the sickness part. And you are right, Thomas is a very handy person to have around when you're ill. Not only does he take care of you, but he's always been pretty good about keeping my mind off my sickness. :)
Love you, Becca!!

Yay! Congratulations! I'm sorry you had to spend it sick but it sounds like it was still awesome. And tamale-making is such a delicious tradition :) Definitely craving some right now!
